Chicken Coop takes home the golden goose, or should we say golden chicken?
The Coop has won ESL Challenger League Season 51: NA Cup #2 after plucking their way through the bracket, only dropping one series before coming back through the lower bracket to take the whole event and qualify for the regional final and a chance at ESL Pro League Season 24!
The victory is the second trophy with this core, and the first victory under colin as IGL and darkpsy as coach! Chicken Coop started this tournament at 301st in the Global VRS, 84th in the Americas VRS, with a total of 516 VRS points. With this victory, the flock gained a whopping 203 total VRS points, 99 positions in Global VRS, and 39 positions in Americas VRS, moving to 208th and 45th, respectively!
The journey started with a match against a few ex-Chicken Coop members on Outfit 49 (Phoenix) where the boys finished with a clean 2-0. OverKnight was up next in the Upper Quarters, with the series ending 2-1. Aether was next in line in the first of two encounters with the Aether squad. Before dispatching them to the lower bracket, REKMEISTER made sure to leave them with a lasting reminder on a double OT Nuke with a sneaky 3k.
The upper bracket final looked like there were actual chickens playing as the squad went out quietly to SportsBetExpert without barely a coo. Panic linked back up with the Coop to sub for jared for the final two matches, starting with the lower bracket final against Aether again. Despite starting down 9-3 on map one, the boys fought back, taking map one, pushing us to Aether’s map pick. REKMEISTER gave Aether a second 3k to remember, helping take out Aether 2-0 and heading to the grand final rematch against SportsBetExpert.
The apple did fall far from the tree in this case, with SportsBet unable to reproduce the same results they had in the upper bracket finals. Drop took home the match MVP, dropping an impressive 1.56 rating and 104.6 ADR.
