The steaks were egg-stremely high last weekend during FRAG 20 in Las Vegas!
The Coop, along with 28 other teams, battled it out in the Entertainment Capital of the World for 20,000 USD and the even more valuable VRS points. We started with a direct invite to Stage 2, meaning our journey began on the second day of the event. You could hear the roosters crowing in the early morning as the team headed into a long day of matches, playing four Best-of-3s for a total of ten maps in one day!
The first match of the day did not go as planned, with the flock not fully awake yet, resulting in a 0-2 loss to InControl and sending us down to the elimination match. It’s a Secret was the next opponent in a win-or-go-home situation; what wasn’t a secret was the series’ low start, with a 13-1 loss. Despite this setback, the boys were determined and pushed through, ending in a 2-1 victory!
The decider match was a rematch with InControl after their loss to M80 in the winners’ match. Again, the series started with a low point with InControl picking up map one 13-3. However, The Coop refused to go without fighting back, winning 13-6 on Inferno and taking us to map three. Dust2 was a strong start with the Coop ending the half 11-1. With a little help from a half-buy pistol ace from Drop, the boys managed to take it to match point, ending 13-8 and qualifying for the Playoffs of FRAG Vegas!
The next match put the Coop up against Wildcard, the overall winner of FRAG 20. Unfortunately, after a hard-fought day, the chicken flew the coop, ending our FRAG 20 journey with a 0-2 loss to Wildcard. We are incredibly proud of the boys for finishing in the top 8 with a new IGL!
Overall, the LAN was a huge boost to the team in VRS. At the start of the tournament, Chicken Coop had 778 points and was ranked at 193rd globally, 42nd in the Americas, and 15th in North America. After the tournament, Chicken Coop had gained 77 points, bringing the total to 855, and +35 positions, now ranked 158th globally, 32nd in the Americas, and 10th in North America. Along with this, Chicken Coop jumped 80 positions in the HLTV rankings from 193rd to 113th and from 11th to 6th in the US.
