Together, we’re building something extraordinary. Be part of our journey as we shape the future of North American esports.
Chicken Coop Esports started the way a lot of good things do: two people in the same family queueing together because it was fun. On one side, Chicken, who saw what this could become before anybody else did. On the other, his uncle 40AiR, who had been playing Counter-Strike since the Half-Life mod days in the early 2000s.
The game had bridged a generation gap in one household, and that was the idea worth chasing: an organisation built on the same thing that made those nights fun, pointed at North American talent that nobody else was looking at.
The first step was the obvious one: put a team into ESEA and find out how far it went. It was Chicken who pushed 40AiR into playing that first open season rather than watching from the sidelines, and from there it stopped being a hobby.
Those early seasons were a grind, played by people who had day jobs and school nights. What came out of them was a working idea of what the Coop should be: a place where grassroots North American players get a real shot and are treated like professionals while they take it.
If the scene was not giving emerging players enough to play for, the Coop would run the events itself. The Thanksgiving Cash Cup came first, then the New Year Cash Cup with GRIP Gel and a $1,000 prize pool, built in-house down to the graphics and the broadcast.
They did more than fill a weekend. They gave the org a reputation for fair play and production quality that opened doors later, and they are still the thing people in the community bring up first. You can read how they went in the news archive.
Running events was one thing. Backing a roster was another. In January 2025 the Coop signed its first competitive lineup and played its debut match, and within months the team had finished second in ESEA Advanced Season 53 and earned a direct invite to ESL Challenger League.
That was the line between a community project and an organisation with something to lose. It also brought the first LAN trips, including Fragadelphia, where the Coop turned up as a real org rather than five friends on the internet.
Not every chapter is a win. In late 2025 the Coop stepped back from active competition and spent the off-season rebuilding the organisation rather than just the roster: clearer standards, a proper code of conduct, and more people around the team than before.
The Coop came back in January 2026 with a new lineup built around the Take Flyte core, a coach in darkpsy, and a front office that had grown up. What has not changed is the thing at the centre of it: this is still a family project, and it still exists because Chicken wanted it to.
2026 is the best year the Coop has had. The team won CROSSFIRE Season 3 in January, took ESL Challenger League Season 51 NA Cup #2 in March, won FRAG TAP Reloaded on LAN in May, and closed it out by winning the ESEA Season 57 North American Finals in June for a $15,000 top prize. You can see the full record on the results page.
The current roster is jared, Crisp, Drop, Wolffe and stesso, coached by darkpsy. October 2026 added a second-place finish at ESL Challenger League Season 52 NA Cup #3, and the team is in the middle of ESEA Season 59 now. Meet them on theCS2 team page, see who runs things behind the scenes on the staff page, and back the Coop through our partners or the shop.
